Get on board with the back to school hype and get organised with our super checklist, follow our checklist guide and we promise you won’t miss a thing! Our checklist consists of all the necessities you need to take back with you into the new school year, along with how to choose the right product to get the most use out of it!

Bag

There are no exceptions, everyone needs a school bag! Last year’s bag has more than likely seen better days so look at your old bag and see what its downfalls are, this way you choose a more suitable option this time round. A rucksack is usually the most comfortable and easiest way to transport your heavy books around all day. Rucksacks don’t have to be sporty, you can find classy leather styles on the market today. Black leather or synthetic leather is not only easy to keep clean it’s also very durable so it will last being thrown around the classroom. When shopping for your new school bag it’s always handy to take your biggest folder with you so you can check everything fits comfortably, there’s nothing worse than books hanging out the top getting tatty!

Pencil Case

With so many different varieties of pencil cases available in the shops and online today it’s got to be one of the most exciting bits of school kit you can buy. There’s a pencil case out there to showcase every different personality so you’re bound to find the right one for you. The main thing to consider when purchasing a pencil case is if it will fit all of your necessities inside, you don’t want to be cramming two into your bag! Another thing to consider is if it will be easy to keep clean because as we all know pencil cases are liable to get filthy, as with everything else school wise a black colour is best!

Inside Your Pencil Case

Always borrowing friends stationary? Surprise them this year by kitting out your pencil case to the max! As you may well know black pens are not always reliable so make sure you have more than one. Ensure you choose good quality pencils to stop the led snapping so easily, paired with a decent sharpener your problems will be solved. Tipp-Ex is not always accepted by every teacher but it’s always good to have just in case. Other handy extras to have are highlighters, gel pens, a compass and sticky notes.

Shoes

It’s more than likely on the first day back that lots of your friends will show up wearing the same loafer shoes so bare this in mind and choose wisely! The main thing you want in a school shoe is to be comfy so make sure you try the shoes on and walk around as soon as you receive. At XY LONDON we have a school shoe collection so you can browse our school friendly footwear all in one place. Our range comes in different variations of synthetic materials including matt leather, patent, suede, velvet & croc. Check out Evie Loafer shoes, the tassels are incredibly individual to ensure you’ll stand out from the crowd. https://www.xylondon.com/evie-black-synthetic-leather-loafer-shoes

Coat

With the winter fast approaching it’s always best to have a new coat on hand for those chillier mornings. When deciding on the right school coat the most important factors to take into consideration are that the length of the sleeves and the bottom is long enough, there’s nothing worse than your blazer popping out all over the place. Before you buy also check the label for washing instructions as it’s always a good idea to get something that is machine washable for regular cleans.

Tights

If you’re a skirt wearer tights are a must, especially due to the weather temperature dropping as we go into the autumn season. Before you buy new tights go through all your old pairs and bin the ones with ladders and holes, this way you won’t get them confused with your brand new tights in a rush getting ready for school in the morning. You can purchase a selection of tights with different levels of thickness to suit the weather for each individual day. When choosing your new tights run your hand inside to check what the quality is like, you want to see a smooth material with no lines as this often looks scruffy. The last thing to be aware of is the leg length as you don’t want to end up with the wrong ones, you’ll either be walking around with a low crotch or constantly pulling them up all day long.
